Taj Mahal

Located in Agra, 204 kilometers from Delhi, Taj Mahal is considered to be one of the seven wonders of the world. Due to its architectural wonder and historical importance UNESCO has declared Taj Mahal as one of the world heritage sites. Built in white marble this epitome of love was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1681 in the loving memory of his beloved wife Arjumand Banu who was more popularly known as Mumtaz Begum. Located across the Yamuna river, beautiful garden surrounds the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal is situated on red sandstone with a white marble tomb that is raised on a terrace. Four minarets are set in four corners of the Mahal. It is said that the background reflection of the Yamuna river provides a magical reflection on the Taj Mahal. Thus the Taj appears with different colors during different seasons or times of the day. During the full moon night Taj Mahal looks absolute gorgeous. The Taj is also beautiful during morning when it appears pinkish and milky white during the day.
